Thailand: 26th Flagship Course on Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction

Communities are at the frontline of disasters. The local authorities and DRR field practitioners are the most trusted stakeholders that understand the challenges at the community level and instrumental in facilitating the processes to reduce disaster risk of the vulnerable communities.

The two-week course provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience through scenario-based simulation exercises and actual community interaction. Participants are provided with tools and information on how to design and implement programs for reducing disaster risks and vulnerability leading to the capacity of communities to build and promote a culture of safety and self-reliance.
